[comp.sys.atari.8bit] uudecode, kermit, etc.

From your comments it sounded as though you might not be aware of the
excellent uuencode/uudecode software available for the Atari 8-bitters.
It is entirely practical to download uuencoded files to your Atari and
decode them there, if you don't have kermit or xmodem available.

I wrote a uudecoder awhile ago in BASIC with assembly language subroutine
to do the dirty work. It can be shipped over the net in .LST format and
downloaded with an ASCII file capture program. Then you can use it to
uudecode whatever you like. UUDECODE.LST (or .BAS) is so fast that speed
is not much of a reason to wish for something better. But if you get tired
of booting up in BASIC to use it, you may want to download John Dunning's
assembly language uudecoder and matching uuENcoder, uudecode them using
my BASIC version, and then retire the BASIC program to be used only for
helping other people get started.

Let me know if you need copies of UUDECODE.BAS or "YAU", Yet Another
Uudecoder, the assembly language version.

Also, there is another pretty decent vt100 emulator called OmniCom, which
is Shareware -- the author requests $10 if you plan to keep using it.
I can forward or post a copy of that also if anyone needs it.
