[comp.sys.atari.8bit] BASIC Atari 8-bit uudecoder

Because of renewed interest in uudecoding, and because my attempt to reply to
arrom@aplcen.apl.jhu.edu (Ken Arromdee (600.429)) failed, I have decided to
post the uudecoder in Atari BASIC again.  (Last posted earlier this year.)
The program should be self-explanatory but documentation is available.

If you get tired of running BASIC to do UUDECODING, or you want to ENCODE
something, I suggest you get John Dunning's assembly language encoder YAUE and
matching decoder YAU (Yet Another Uudecoder).  You can decode them using
UUDECODE.BAS and then retire the BASIC version until someone else needs it to
bootstrap themselves into using YAU/YAUE.

If you don't expect to do much UUDECODEing, UUDECODE.BAS by itself will give
a good account of itself -- it appears to run at just about the same speed
as Dunning's all-assembly-language version, a result that Dunning seems to
concur with.  Apparently all that sweat to avoid overhead in the BASIC calling
program was well spent!
