[comp.sys.atari.8bit] hard disks and the 1200xl

Actually, connecting a hard disk to a 1200xl should be possible
if you know a bit about hardware. 'All' you have to do is find all
of the signals that are present on the expansion bus of a 130xe,
and bring them out of the computer. the signals are all listed in
'Mapping the Atari (revised edition).' I'm not sure if all of the
signals are generated by the 1200xl, some may have to be derived, but
if I remember right, most of the extra lines you will need are
there (the high order address lines, I can't remember what else
they had). Even if this can be done (I don't have a schematic
of the 1200, so I can't say for sure) it will not be cheap..
Incidently, if anyone out there has a copy of a 1200xl schematic,
I would be interested in getting a copy. I would be willing to pay
for one..

Given the price of hard drive and related items, it would only be a minor
perturbation to replace the 1200xl with an 800xl or a 130xe.
