I need to get some files off my old Atari 800 disks somehow, fast. I can borrow a modem, and buy/build a cable, but I could really use something like Kermit. Can anyone tell me how to get a copy? (If you care, the ultimate destination is a Mac, but here at Stanford I can get to a mac from any number of places: the campus mainframes, IBM PCs, whatever.) --- Joe B. How about using one of the many communication programs available which usees X-modem protocol. One good one is 850-express, another older one is Chameleon. You can then go computer-computer using only the RS232 port on the apple and your serial connection on the 850 or equivalent. When you make your cable watch pin 8. Some programs (850 express for one) requires this lead be held high, while some others dont.
