[comp.sys.atari.8bit] Atari Users Group Meeting

c08_d102@jhunix.HCF.JHU.EDU (Stdnt102) (03/25/89)

I've noticed a note in the latest Checkbits stating that the next
meeting would be Tuesday, March 28th, 8:00PM in Gilman 12. I should
warn everyone interested that I've not yet reserved this room, and I
don't know if Mark has taken care of that himself or not . . .

Personally, I would prefer to meet at a member's home again, as it's
a bit more comfortable to sit on a rug, even, than in a classroom for two
hours. Also, it's nice to see what's available for the machines first hand.
Unfortunately, my room is going to be painted, I've packed up my computer
for a couple of weeks, and the local spacio-temporal fractures have started
acting up again, so my place isn't a good idea. Anyone want to volunteer their
own room? (Cross your fingers, in two weeks I might have a) a real fridge,
b) a non-silly-putty sofa, c) a real kitchen table, and d) more room for the
computer equipment (not to mention people). Then my place will be fine.
I should have started demanding all this sooner...)

And now, for a progress report.

o	No progress toward getting a model constitution to modify.
(Eric, are you out there? I know Joe is using your
account, but do you ever use it yourself?)
o	No progress toward becoming a real SAC group
	(but then, it's Spring Break).
o	Some progress toward a software library.
I spent a few days going over my archives of software and have
made some sense out of it. Now, I need a disk cataloging program
to make a list of what I have. I'd appreciate other members sorting
through their own public domain software and cataloging it, too,
so we can cut down on time spent on ftp'ing and listserv'ing
(believe me, you'll appreciate this someday...).

If this all seems a bit discouraging, well, it's only been a week.
The main purpose of the above was to get some action going vis-a-vis
cataloging your software. Do it! I found the most amazing things
lying around on my disks, myself . . .

On a side note, I like the way the ATARINET server at UH-INFO@UHUPVM1
hasn't been updated since last Halloween.
