Just out of curiousity, what do you people use your Atari 8-bit machines for, anyway? Word-processing? Data communications? Games? Programming (and what sort of programming?)? Dynamical Systems Research? Divining the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything? Personally, I do a little bit of sloppy programming in Atari Basic or machine language (with the original Atari Assembler Editor). I've never tried Turbo Basic or any other Basic, and I've also never tried any other Assembler (though I have lusted a little after MAC/65). As well, I'm trying to get set up with some sort of communications package that supports an 80 column display using software. I have a VT100 emulator but, unfortunately, I don't have a proper SX212 driver to go with it (the driver I have conflicts with the emulator software). And finally, I'm looking for a decent 80 column word processor. As far as I know, two such animals are available (one from Atari and one from some company that advertises noisily in Antic), but I've yet to hear from anyone who actually uses either of them. So, there you have it. -- Roy Wood (rrwood@lotus.waterloo.edu)
