[comp.sys.atari.8bit] 3 1/2" disk with 400/800/800xl

ACSCHW@SEMASSU.BITNET (Let That Be Your Last Battlefield) (02/14/90)

Hello,

Has anyone ever hooked up a 3 1/2" drive (720K or other) to an Atari 8 bit ?

I would really like to do this to save space and use more reliable disks.

Someone told me you can hook up the old Percom DSDD drive to a 3 1/2" unit
and it would work (although, they had not done it to prove that...)

Would that work, how are the old percom units as DSDD 5 1/2" drives ? Are
they more reliable (I haven't had too many reliablity probs, but...)

I am very interested in doing this, but would like someone to tell me how
to do it (please don't tell me to buy a XF551 drive...I can't justify the
expendature...unless you got one for sale cheap...)

  Thanks again,
