[comp.sys.atari.8bit] Wanted: Instructions/tips on Bounty Bob

harrington@mfgmem.dec.com (Shawn Harrington) (03/05/90)

A couple of weeks or so ago, I sent out a message saying that I was
looking for the game _Bounty Bob Strikes Back_ from Big Five Software. Well,
I was fortunate to find someone willing to sell me the game from their person-
al collection. However... they no longer had the instructions for the game.

Not that it's a hard game to figure out - especially if you've played
its predecessor, Miner 2049er - but having the instructions probably WOULD make
some parts of the game a little easier. So, I was wondering whether there was
anyone who'd be willing to share their instructions with me. I know that there
are some people on the net who have the game - they e-mailed me - but I didn't
keep their net addresses. If those people would send me another note, I'd ap-
preciate it. And, of course, if anyone else out there has the instructions -
maybe someone who *didn't* respond to my previous message - I'd like to hear
from you, too.

At the least, maybe someone could answer these questions:

On the Options page, what does it mean when you enable/disable the
"Secret Messages"? I haven't seen any secret messages. Are there really some to
be found? If so, where?

Also on the Options page, what is the significance of the "Special
Codes"?

Lastly - but most importantly - is there any way to go directly to a
given level? In _Miner 2049er_, you could go to the level of your choice by
1) typing in the phone number for Big Five Software (as seen on the first
screen of the game), then 2) typing <Shift-level #> (or something like that).
Can you do anything similar in _Bounty Bob Strikes Back_?

As before, any help that anyone can give me is much appreciated.

	Thanks!

After you complete a given number of levels (I think it's 4), you will
be given a secret code. This code, when used in the right place, will
transport you to a higher level. That way, you can go directly to level
5 instead of going through the first 4.

As I recall, the "Secret Messages" were shortcuts you would be told
after completing certain levels -- it would tell you the secret of how
to perform a certain action to jump to a certain level...

Don't remember offhand...

Only via the "Secret Messages" shortcuts... if you do well enough,
you can find them out...

It was a nifty game, it's true...
