'Lo ATARI people; I have a problem. I'm using a ATARI 8-bit system to hook up with the local VAX system here in Kent, Ohio. I have a 130 XE, XF551 disk drive, and the SX212 Modem (HAYES compatible). I use the AModem 7.50 program to get online, but I can only get 40 columns and use VT52 rather than VT100. I'm wondering if there is a VT100 emulator out there for the 8-bit ATARI's. A vast amount of people I know also need it for thier systems. Example of a 'usable' VT100 ATARI emulator: - 80 column screen, either like the ATARI Writer Plus, or all 80 on the screen at once. - Ablitity to use all <ESC> characters on a VAX/VMS system. - Abilitiy to put 24 rows of 80 column lines on the screen at once. (Not nessesary) Where can I find one? Is there one out there? Is it even possible? PLEASE REPLY SOON!!! ---------- John Van Huffel: JOURV765 @ KENTVMS . BITNET KSUVXA :: JOURV765 ---------- Disclaimer: I'm a student. What's your excuse?

I use my SX212 connected via the SIO port. Here is what I use (and it is finally working for any of you that have been following my questions about terminal programs and the SX212). I am running OmniCom with a direct connected SX212 modem on my 256K 600XL. I found that I had to use a different handler for the SX212. I am using one written by James Dillow. I got it on the same disk that I got BobTerm on. I connect to a System V UNIX (R) based machine and it works just fine. I have 80 columns by 24 lines, full VT100 capability and file transfer capability (but I haven't tried that yet). I can do everything from home that I am used to doing at work including running a visual editor (VI). It is a little difficult to read because the letters are only three pixels wide, but I adjust the contrast and sharpness until it looks the best. According to the documentation that comes with OmniCom, it will work with VMS machines, so I wouldn't worry. If you can find it at a User's group, try it. I would volunteer to upload and post it, but I am a little hesitant because I have never tried to do that before. Maybe someone else will volunteer? Oh, by the way, I had to use it on a disk with Atari DOS 2.0. I tried it with SpartaDOS, but it would lock every time. I don't think I was doing anything wrong, so there must be a conflict with the handler because others who use an Atari 850 interface and a different handler have said they can run under SpartaDOS.
