[comp.sys.atari.8bit] SX212 handler that comes with BobTerm - shareware author

Chris_F_Chiesa@cup.portal.com (06/13/90)

Kit Kimes (kimes@cbnewsc.att.com) recently informed us that upon using the
SX212 handler that comes with BobTerm, with a DIFFERENT terminal program,
"while it is loading a screen comes up briefly that says it is a shareware
program, and gives a name and address in Florida." Kit then asks "if
Bob Puff sends a portion of the money he receives for BobTerm to him (the
SX212-handler author)."

I've exchanged e-mail on this subject with Bob Puff on his BBS (Computer
World Jr., at (716) 247-8355) and Bob says that NO, he does NOT forward any
money to the author of the SX212 handler, who "has his own shareware agree-
ments" -- apparently a reference to the message Kit mentions.

That's the scoop, Kit and everyone else; if you see that other guy's name,
and address, and want him to receive shareware money, SEND IT DIRECTLY TO
HIM, not to Bob Puff. Separate products, separate authors, separate con-
tributions.

Thanks Chris.

I also received your email, but wanted to add a comment for all to see.
The man's name is James Dillow. I have never seen his name on anything
else, but I don't use a lot of productive or utility type programs.
The SX212 handler is an excellent program and deserves some compensation
for his efforts. Too bad Bob's program doesn't allow James message to
come up. Since Bob mentions in his documentation that the program is
for direct connect SX212 modems, he should also mention that it is
shareware and give the name and address. I don't have the latest issue
of BOBTERM yet, so maybe he has updated this information.

Thanks again. It is good to see that some people continue to support
the 8bit Atari computers. One of these days I'll probably get an ST
(maybe the Advantage Package will push me over the edge) but for now
I am completely content with my 8bit.
