I guess my last attempt to post this didn't quite work, so here we go again... I just picked up a 1050 drive with a US Doubler installed. Does anyone know if there is software available to allow it to read/write MS-DOS disks? The SpartaDos manual shows that the SIO command "Set Configuration" ($4F) involves sending a 12 byte data set that includes the sector size. Theoretically, one should be able to set the sector size to 512 bytes (instead of 256) and read/write MS-DOS disks, right? Well, now how do I specify the 12 bytes to send? Where in SpartaDos is this set? Will I have to hack the code? Also-- I know about the PC utility for reading/writing MYDOS format disks, though I'd like to be able to read/write on the 1050 too. And I also know that Happy-enhanced disks can read/write MS-DOS disks (I have a Happy on order from B&C). Any hints or suggestions will be appreciated. Maybe I'll go look at the tech. ref. manual and see if I can fake the entire SIO send sequence and generate the 12 byte data set myself.... -Roy.
