[comp.sys.atari.8bit] Atari 1030 modem

rfc@briar.Philips.Com (Robert Casey) (10/19/90)

Last week, at a hamfest (amateur radio flea market), I got an Atari 1030 modem
without doc's and power supply. I figured out that the thing will work on
about 12V ac. Question is: can this modem do 1200baud? Anyone have the set
of commands you need to dial numbers and do other stuff? Hayes type commands
don't do anything. Thanks in advance.

Re: 1030 no docs, no ps.

Power supply - actually, 9vac is probably better for the thing, can't
remember exactly.

Docs, etc - get Bobterm and use the xm301 or 1030 handler that comes with
it.

The reason the 1030 does not respond to the hayes command set is because
it isn't hayes compatible. A really stupid thing to do in this day and age,
but then Atari has never really been known for its brilliance.

  Re: Baud

Sorry, it is stuck at 300 baud. For an interesting, but useless, term
program remove all cartridges from your computer, unplug all SIO devices
except the 1030, and then turn on your computer. (If using an XL/XE hold down
the option key to disable basic.)
