Those of you who use the mail server, Bart, to access atari.archive.umich.edu will notice a few changes. There is a new line in the message headers to identify whom a request come from. The X-Requested-By: line is useful for preventing some abuses of the path command. The other change is in the Subject lines. They used to read "filename.arc.uxx". Now they ready "filename.arc - part uxx of uyy". This is to help people retrieve large files by parts. I also made a few changes to make Bart friendlier to the host machine, but that's not of much direct concert to y'all. The most frequent request for a new feature is to have Bart is to handle requests for large files differently. Currently, Bart rejects requests for files that would exceed the quota. Many feel that it would be useful for Bart to send out as many parts as possible. Just a reminder, we don't have quotas to cause you grief, we have them to placate our system administrator. Please don't try to subvert our quota system. I know it isn't tough to do, but don't do it anyway. We've caught a few people doing it and sent them (and their Postmaster) a message on net.etiquette. BTW, for those of you who are used to mailing me at "dyer@math.lsa.umich.edu" should take note that my account name has changed. Jon Brode -- brode@math.lsa.umich.edu
