A friend and I both have 68000 systems that use, mostly, CompuPro IEE-696 hardware. We are running CP/M-68K, which is a better instantiation than CP/M-80 2.2, but would like to look at other possibilities. OS9/68K has received lots of good reviews but is not available for the CPro h/w. There is also a UN*X port, I believe by Dynaport, available. I saw recently, in IEEE Software, that Pecan had bought out Volition Systems, purveyors of the p-system for the 68K and others. Does anyone know if the p-sys is available for CPro h/w and, more likely, if not, how much work is necessary to accomplish the port? I know that CDOS 5.0 (by whatever name it is being called this week) has been/is being ported to run on CPro 80x86 products. Is anyone aware, and can they speak, of any equivalent effort for the CPro 68K machine? Given that the 68K series is orders of magnitude better architecturaly than the 80x86 machines (NB the preceding is a completely objective statement!), it sure would be nice to see more generic 68K s/w, as opposed to vendor-specific s/w, available to the general/hacking community. - - - - - - - - - Tom Davis USENET: ... !uw-beaver!ssc-vax!ssc-bee!tld C3I Systems Technology COMPUSERVE: 70110,555 Boeing Aerospace Co. *** All opinions expressed (good, bad, or otherwise) are mine and in no way reflect opinion or policy of Boeing Aerospace Co. or The Boeing Company. ***
