I wonder if anyone out there can help me??? This concerns the good old 68000 and the MC68451 MMU and is probably a pretty basic question. Anyway, how does one go about programming the MMU for this beast? For instance, how would I load a new descriptor? I'm somewhat confused (especially by Motorola's "User Manual") in that it appears you merely read or write to some low addresses (x00 - x3F) to perform the programming operation. The point of confusion for me is the conflict between that and the "hardwired" exception vector assignments (x000 - x3FF). Is there some signal that gets asserted in order to tell the MMU to do direct address translation versus performing one of its defined operations? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
