I am planning to do embedded systems development for the Motorola MC68010 and am looking for some pointers. The first question that I have is easy....what emulation systems are out there? I am currently looking at a system from Applied MicroSystems. I am sure that there are others, and would like to hear what people are using. The second question is a bit more difficult. I would like to code in C as well as assembler, so I am looking for good sources of cross compilers/assemblers. Ideally there would be some level of interaction with the software development platform and the in circuit emulation system. It would be nice to do source level debug on the emulation system. I have tentative plans of using GCC from the FSF as the cross compiler. I only plan to use the front end of the compiler and not use GAS or LD, the assembler and linker respectively. Does this approaach sound reasonable? If so, what assemblers can you recommend? If not, what compilers/assemblers can you recommend? The host system for development will be a MicroVAX 3100 running VMS. E-mail or post, either way. E-mail is a bit easier for me though. Thanks in advance, Terry Terry Jones {rutgers,uunet}!acsu.buffalo.edu!jones SUNY at Buffalo ECE Dept. or: rutgers!ub!jones You are in a maze of twisty little compiler features, all different.
