I'm looking for freely available 68000 family assemblers. I am especially interested in ones which handle 68020, 68881, and the MMU, but any vanilla 68000 assembler is also of interest. I'm interested in totally public domain packages (although I know of none) and ones with restrictions. Currently I am aware of : A68k, by Charlie Gibbs, ported from Modula-2 code in Dr. Dobbs, with MANY modifications from Mr. Gibbs, non-commercial usage only, targetted for the Amiga, generates S-records, 68000 only. GAS, the GNU Assembler, with the usual GNU restrictions, handles the whole 68k family as far as I can tell... There is apparently a freeware assembler for on the Motorola BBS, which handles 68881, 68020, 68851, etc... I don't know about distribution terms or anything like that, because I don't have access to the BBS. Anybody have or know anything about this package ? There are others available, including DICE for the Amiga, by Matthew Dillon, and McAsm for the Mac (don't remember the author), but these are not in source form. I assume that free assemblers exist for the Atari ST, but I don't know anything there. I'm specifically interested in assemblers for which the source is distributed. Replies by email and I will summarize if there is an interest. Thanks in advance, Eric Eric W.
