[comp.sys.m68k] 68030 -vs EC030

cwk@boomer.ssc.gov (Carl W. Kalbfleisch) (04/11/91)

I tried to post this a few days ago, so please forgive me if it is duplicated,
I think the previous post failed.

Anyway, I am trying to get information on the difference between the 68030
and the new EC030 chip. Do they have the same pin out? Are there differences
besides the lack of an MMU in the EC?

Specifically, we are considering buying an emulator, and are curious as
whether an EC emulator could work on an 030 if the MMU is not to be used.

Thanks in Advance.

The two chips are identical except for the lack of MMU. In fact, current
production of the EC030 uses the same silicon, presumably with the MMU
disabled somehow.
