[net.wanted] How do you fix up a piano?

riddle@ut-sally.UUCP (09/09/83)

A friend of mine just bought a used piano which needs a little (read:
a lot) of work. The proud owner is a pretty good handyman, but he doesn't
know much about pianos. Does anyone out there have any experience with
something of this sort? Under these circumstances, is it worth it to try
to recondition a piano yourself, or should you shell out the bucks to hire
a pro? Are there any worthwhile books on the subject? Is there any cheaper
way to get parts than to go through a piano dealer? Please send comments
via mail and I'll pass them along to my friend. Thanks.
