I am interested in obtaining an lcd screen. I don't know really where I can get one or how much it's going to cost me. I would appreciate any help anyone could give me. Also, any technical advice or comments re- garding LCD screens would also be appreciated. If you're thinking of the large ones used in portable computers and the like, my impression (I have no personal experience with this) is that the cheapest way to get one is to buy a portable computer at a closeout sale and rip it apart. The companies that make them basically don't want to talk to you unless you're ordering in quantity 100000. Driving the things can also be a bit tricky. -- "There's a lot more to do in space | Henry Spencer @ U of Toronto Zoology than sending people to Mars." --Bova | {allegra,ihnp4,decvax,utai}!utzoo!henry

The manufacturers may feel that way, but the distributors will be of a
different mind. Even a manufacturer will send sample quantities, if you
interest them. And it isn't unheard of that someone says they are interested
in 100's and 1000's of something when they only really want to get their
hands on sample to see if they're really interested in buying more than one.
There is more than one manufacturer that makes large and small display that
have all the drive logic on a PC board that comes with the display. All you
need supply is some power, and a few TTL signals.
