[sci.electronics] Helium Neon Laser

warnock@hubcap.UUCP (Todd Warnock) (11/15/87)

In a batch of recently acquired "junk", a ran across a laser that looks
like this:

1 inch tube approx 12 inches long with a
4 foot coax coming out of one end terminating with a molded plug with
two pins on it. The other end has a small hole (for the laser light.)
The markings on the laser indicate a 5 milliwatt Helium Neon laser
made by Hughes Aircraft Company in 1982 (the industrial products division).
The model number is 3203H-C-01 and is a Class IIIB laser.

Now, I know nothing about Lasers, but would like to find out if this is
a true "piece of junk" or if it might be useful for something. Where can
I obtain a spec sheet for this thing, or did it come from some other
piece of equipment ? I'd like to know how to test it also.

Much thanks for the help !
