[sci.electronics] More BSR X10 stuff

jdg@ncrcae.Columbia.NCR.COM (Jim Griggers) (01/05/88)

I found another source for the BSR X10 modules. K-mart sells Stanley
Garage Door Openers that turn on modules when the garage door is
operated. The marketing name for their system is LIGHTMAKER (tm).
K-mart has been the only retail outlet I have seen in many
years that carries a 3-way wall switch module. ($24.95)

Stanley also is carrying a new "Power Timer"(tm) control center
which is basically an alarm clock with built-in X10 controls, a
redesigned control center, a mini-controller, and a mobile (rf)
controller.

On a side note: I wish BSR had gotten their stuff together when they
designed the wall switch module. There is no local control over the
dimming of the unit. How hard could it have been to have dimming
if the button were held down and released when the proper light level
was reached? Oh well, maybe in their next generation.

I wish that there were a wall switch module that would control florescent
lights. I'd like to be able to control my kitchen ceiling lights remotely,
as well as, locally.

I know about plug-in appliance modules, but does anyone know if there is
a wire-in appliance module?
