Just wondering if anyone understands the innards of microwave ovens. The only magnetrons I'm familiar with are the World War II radar things that have a cathode that takes minutes to heat up and that run 20 kilovolts or so between cathode and anode. So how do the ones in ovens get instant-on, and what kind of voltage to they need? The units don't seem heavy enough to have a big transformer in there. haynes@ucscc.ucsc.edu haynes@ucscc.bitnet ..ucbvax!ucscc!haynes
