I purchased an IBM PC type 1200 baud internal modem at a hamfest yesterday. Unfortunately, the documentation turns out to be for a different type of modem card (I guess this isn't too much of a surprise.) Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone out in the net would be able to help me figure out how to configure this thing. There are three jumpers (straps) on the card and a six position DIP switch that faces the back of the card. The jumpers are labeled J5 (near the back of the card, in front of one of the TELCO jacks), J6 (bottom of the card, above left side of connector), and J7 (botton, above right side of connector). These jumpers are all labeled "A" for the left connection and "B" for the right. The DIP switches are just collectively labeled SW1. The board is silkscreened "OMNITEL 1200 PC3 REV E". There is an FCC sticker that also contains the OMNITEL name, but no address of the company anywhere that I can find. I don't anticipate any problems once I get the card configured for the proper address. I imagine that this is a clone of some other modem, and perhaps someone out on the net has either this make or the "real" card that this is a clone of. If anyone recognizes this, please send me mail on how to configure it. If anyone recognizes the company "OMNITEL", I can call them and possibly get ahold of their documentation. Anything would be helpful (Trial and error is possible, there aren't many combinations, but that's really a pain!) Since this is obviously not of general interest to the net, please just send me mail. Thanks! Marcus Hall ..!{ihnp4,mcdchg}!illusion!marcus
