[sci.electronics] Clutches

Does anyone know of an electrically actuated clutch that does not
use power once engaged or disengaged? Traditional off-the-shelf
friction, jaw/tooth, magnetic particle etc style clutches all require
power to either remain engaged or remain disengaged. There are a number
of spring return styles that consume no power when engaged but power
is need to hold the clutch open. It is easy to imagine one but I'm
wondering if there are any out there.

I'm looking at two styles: one runs at about 60rpm and 100in-lbs and the other
is <1rpm and 100+ ft-lbs.

Thanks,

nivek
