[sci.electronics] Sources for timer I/O cards for IBM PC

jbn@glacier.STANFORD.EDU (John B. Nagle) (08/26/88)

I need a card for an IBM PC capable of generating the waveforms for
controlling an RC model. Something with an 8254 timer chip would be
sufficient. An extra serial port on the board would also be useful, but
is not essential. Does such a thing exist off-the-shelf?

On page 338 of the September, 1988 BYTE magazine there is an
advertisement for a "waveform synthesizer" card for IBM PC/XT/AT and
compatibles. It generates user-definable signals with up to 2000
points per envelope. It costs $795. You probably don't need this
kind of generality, but you may want to inquire if they have what you
want.
