Anybody out there in net-land have any circuits for license-free beacon transmitters that could be attached to a weather balloon? I live only a few miles from a good-size airport and the flight paths for DC-9's are right over my house. Naturally, I don't want to incur the wrath of the FAA or cause an accident. Does the Weather Bureau clear their balloon launches with the FAA? Purpose of the exercise would be to track flight path of typical balloon for as long as possible.
