I have a d4 discman that works very well. It is brand new and still under warranty but it does have a small problem. The internal nicad doesn't seem to be charging up when the unit is plugged in. The batt symbol has been on on the display since I got the thing and the docs don't explain this symbol at all. I am assuming that this is the common battery low indicator. The unit does work fine when it is plugged into the wall adaptor but on the battery it is showing signs of low power. Any suggestions folks? CB

I have a Sony D-10, and the little battery indicator is ON (i.e. visible on front panel) when the unit is properly supplied with power (either battery or AC). My manual tells me not to charge the battery for more than 8 hours at a time (I think it is lead-acid, sealed). I think that's the way the D4's are, because a friend of mine had one. Hope this helps... Chris Johnson cdj@psuecl
