I was using my computer (XT clone, TTL mono monitor) the other evening, when suddenly I heard a short cracking noise, and the screen went dead. The computer still works fine (I used the printer), but testing the monitor on another computer showed the same problem. I tryed adjusting the brightness pot on the circuit board, and I am able to see an amber screen - but no computer signal. Obviously, my real problem is trying to get the monitor working, but I think I may be on to it. On the small board connected to the CRT, there are four small gray components connected to the CRT connector with the board designations SG1, SG2, SG3, and SG4. One of these has a hole in one corner and a bulge on the top as if toasted itself. My question is first whether someone can identify these components, (they have SG written on the side), and secondly, can someone say whether the presumably damaged component would cause the problem I am having. I have absolutely no idea what these components are or where I would get replacements. Also, it any of you knowledgable souls out there have solutions to similar problems as this, I would appreciate your response, :-) Oh, by the way, the monitor is a TTX 1202 manufactured by Korea Data Systems. Thanks in advance. :-) -- Brad Cameron uucp: decvax!utzoo!dciem!nrcaer!cognos!bradc Cognos Incorporated mail: P.O. Box 9707, 3755 Riverside Drive, (613) 738-1440 Ottawa Ontario, Canada. K1G 3Z4
