There have been some discussions on the net here about the RS flux gate compass. Flux gate magnetometers make good metal detectors. People use these things and drag them through the water to detect large metallic submerged objects. Has anyone given thought to how this RS beastie could be converted to detecting metallic objects? Or does it already detect objects that distort the earth's magnetic field?? What are the sensitivity considerations involved? Anybody out there a flux gate jock?? c.d.t WB4HVD
