[sci.electronics] lasermodulation

etxbrfa@kklm01.ericsson.se (11/17/88)

A quick question. I have a 35mW He-Ne laser and I want the beam to pulsate
with a freq of 10MHz. What kind of devices can do that and where can I get
them ?

Heffron Eli & Sons 139 Hampshire St. in Cambridge MA, phone 617
547-4005 has a bunch of Xerox scanning laser heads (for their laser
printers) that has an acoustic-optic modulator that will do what you
want. You probably want the video-modulator pizo combo that they are
selling for $15 from the head assembly. The idea behind this device is
that the acoustic waves in the crystal act as a phase diffraction
grating which will divert the beam. The crystal is housed in a metal
box with two pinholes.
