Has anyone played with an NEC NDL3200 laser diode? I saw a very quick demo of one yesterday, and today I talked with NEC. Data sheets are on their way, but I learned the following from NEC over the phone: Wavelength: 670 nanometers Output Power: 3 milliwatts Small-quantity price: $260.00 Availability: Now One of our local NEC distributors (Sterling in Woburn, MA) reports having two in stock, but at $500.00 apiece. The demo I saw was an impromptu one after a class at MIT. One of the other students pulled a small box out of his pocket. A beam rather reminiscent of that of a He-Ne laser was radiating from the box. The divergence did seem to be somewhat greater than that of a He-Ne. I will probably see this student again and be able to pump him for more information before the data sheets arrive. Bill N1CPK
