I was recently quoted 160 dollars for a new set of heads. I don't remember
if this included installation or not. (The problem turned out to be a mis-
adjusted pinch roller.)

Video heads are very easy to clean with the special cleaner and foam swabs
available at most hi-fi/video stores, including Radio Shack. You should
avoid the sand-paper type cleaners at all costs.

My VCR refuses to play correctly above SLP speed. Any ideas?
(P.S This means no store-bought videos. However, the special effects,
Freeze-frame and slo-mo work better than any other VCR when in 2-hour
speed.)

If the machine is using a four-head or even the rarer three-head config.
then one of the heads is broken, worn, or clogged with oxide.

If the sound is okay on SP then this is the likely cause.

Please note I say 'likely'. Without the machine in front of me to test,
I can't say for certain. But past experience tells me what to check first.
