[sci.electronics] Switching PSU

wade@hwee.UUCP (Scott Wade) (02/20/89)

A friend wants me to make a power supply for a car audio system. The amplifiers
need about +/- 30V at about 3A. Is the best (only?) way to do this to make a
switched mode power supply. I have been told these are not recommended for use
with audio systems. The supply must run off the 12V car battery (i.e. no other
batteries allowed). Anyone have any ideas?

Scott,

There is an article in the March 1989 Radio Electronics magazine
where they build a high power amplifier and a +/- 35 volt from
12 volt supply.

If you do not have access to Radio Electronics you might
try to order back issues from:

I can hard mail you a copy of the article if you would like.
