I posted the below to news.groups, and am cross-posting it here to
gain a wider readership. It's a shame that it needs to be done, but
after asking around, I've found that many people do not read
news.groups due to excess verbiage or lack of interest.
Please post your comments to news.groups, not here. (Yeah, I know
that I'm asking you to increase its volume!)

There has been some interest here in having a newsgroup for
announcements and discussions concerning energy technologies. This
could include both traditional and alternative energy sources. We
would propose it to be unmoderated, and called sci.energy.
Please send in your opinions and ideas about the creation of this
newsgroup over the next couple of weeks.
