recently, i posted a freely-copyable printed circuit board cad package to comp.binaries.ibm.pc; it is also available in the archives at simtel20 (PD1:<MSDOS.CAD>PCB.ARC), for those of you with ftp access. it runs on ibm pc's and compatibles, and consists of an autorouter, a pcb viewer (requires EGA or VGA), and a pcb printer (creates images files that can be sent to an hp laser jet) [i'm also working on an enhancement to make conversion to postscript easier]. source code is included, also a README, and the text to a magazine article i am writing about autorouting algorithms. it is not intended to compete with the commercial ($500-$1000) cad packages such as OrCad and HiWire, but just to satisfy your curiosity on how autorouting is done. if you want the package, but can't get it from the binaries group or simtel20, send me email, and i will try to send it to you (you will need uudecode and arc.exe). i also encourage you to send comments/bug reports/requests for enhancements. randy nevin arpanet: microsoft!randyn@beaver.cs.washington.edu or microsoft!randyn@uunet.uu.net uucp: ..uw-beaver!microsoft!randyn or ..uunet!microsoft!randyn
