[sci.electronics] Parts vendors

I am looking for a reliable distributor for things like wire, ribbon
cable, connectors, fans, and other types of electrical stuff. My current
supplier is Newark. Unfortunately, I have had a number of problems with
them recently, including:
	- price raises. The prices they quote in their most recent
catalog are sometimes far below the prices they will actually sell
the material for. On my last order, all but one prices was raised.
The biggest price increase was about 50%, for a spool of wire.
	- poor service. I have had to put orders through as many as four
times before the order was actually shipped.

So, can anyone recommend a place that has a large catalog (so I don't
have to determine all of the manufacturer's part numbers and get quotes)
who can process orders efficiently? Good service and a catalog are more
important than the lowest prices. Thanks.

I know the feeling, although it is not always Newark's fault. For
completeness and available stock, they're tough to beat. You could
try Gerber, (617) 769-6000. I've had better prices and good service
from them in the past.
