No this doesn't belong in talk.politics.guns. I'm talking about that dreaded beast, the wire-wrap gun. I've found that wire wrapping to be the most effective way for me to do fairly complex permanent designs. No knock against soldering, it's just my soldering skills are abysmal on a good day. So now that I'm considering a really major hardware project (68020, 512K ram, DMA, MMU, floppy disk, 6-8 midi ports, keyboard and LCD display) I'm in the market for a good WW gun. After using a OK Just-Wrap tool on my last major project (68010, 128K, Midi) I've found a couple of things lacking. The Just-Wrap tool has the following features (which I happen to consider essential IMHO): - Auto Feed - Auto Strip - Daisy Chaining - Auto Cut For the price ($37 for the wrapper, unwrapper, and 4 50 ft. spools of wire) it's an OK deal. However it has two major reliability flaws: - Flaky WW connections. Some test good and then become loose. A debugging nightmare. - Flimsy construction. It's made of plastic which became separated after a few weeks of heavy use. Superglue did help that however. So I'm looking for reccomendations for a first class WW gun (probably electrical but hand tools considered) with the all of the good features of the OK tool but without the problems. All metal construction would be nice and solid WW connections necessary. Please Email. I'll summarize if anyone is interested.
