[sci.electronics] ATV progress report

bb@trsvax.UUCP (06/29/89)

After searching through several magazines I have come to the conclusion that
there is but one company which sells fully tested and assembled ATV RF
transmitters. For those who are interested the company is:

P.C. Electronics
2522 Paxson Ln.
Arcadia, CA 91006

I have not purchased any of their products yet because I am still working
on my Technicians FCC license. I'm up to 2 or 3 words per minute on my
morse code but still need alot more practive to get up to the required
5 words per minute.

As far as putting a camera in an R/C plane goes I have decided to try it
with a glider first. I am nearly finished with a model called a Riser 100.
It has a 100 inch wingspan and should be able to carry an extra pound or so
with all that wing out there. First I will fly it without extra weight and
then will try adding the appropriate amout of ballast to simulate the
camera, transmitter and batteries. If that proves successful, I will then
purchase the camera and transmitter. By the way the transmitter is about
$160, a good light weight B/W camera is $600-$800, and the batteries will
be about $30.
