[sci.electronics] Looking for a 68HC11 assembler

philb@orca.WV.TEK.COM (Phil Biehl) (06/28/89)

I'm looking for an assembler for the above mentioned
microcontroller and would appreciate any pointers to
public domain software, shareware or otherwise.

	Thanks

Motorola has a freeware line that you can dial up and download software from.
The number is (512) 440-3733. I haven't used this in a few years, but I think
it is still active. They have a bunch of cross assemblers (IN SOURCE CODE :-) )
for many of their micro families. I was able to hack the code onto our
vax/vms system and a unix system. I think a DOS version is availible on line.

While we're on the subject of 6811s I would very highly recommend the
Archimede's C-6811 C compiler. It supports interrupts, is ROM-able, reasonably
efficient, and you can do everything but the chip initialization in C.
It also comes with its own assembler.
They have both Vax/vms and MS-DOS versions availible.
I think the price is (was) around $300.00 for MS-DOS.
The manual seems to have walked away, so I can't tell you the phone number,
but the company that sells this useful tool is called Archimedes Software Inc.

Disclaimer: I have no connection with Archimedes Software Inc. other than
being a satisfied customer.

Motorola operates a free BBS at 512-440-3733 which contains an
adequate public-domain assembler written in C, with source.
A commercial C compiler for the M68HC11 is available, and is in use
at the Smart Product Design Lab at Stanford. Forth is also available,
in the form of a custom 68HC11 from New Micros in Dallas TX, 214-339-2204.
