[sci.electronics] polymer batteries

The latest issue of IEEE Spectrum has an interesting article
on polymer batteries. These use a solid (polymer) electrolyte.
Much was made of the fact that they are extremely thin (in fact, they
don't work well unless they are very thin). However, in one of
the charts I noticed that they had a amp-hour/Kg ratio much
larger (1000%? - don't have the article handy) than lead acid
batteries. Also, it wasn't clear if they were rechargable. If so,
they would seem to be a much more practical battery for electric
cars.

Does anyone know any more about these?
