I am going to be relocating in N.J. early next year and am interested in finding out as much as I can about the auto insurance situation in the state, and in particular what I can do before I move to minimize my insurance costs (e.g. change to a company which will cover me in N.J.) All I have heard is horror stories of how much I can expect my rates to increase. My initial inquires confirm this situation -- one agency that I called quoted me a rate of over $1300 dollars to duplicate my existing coverage in Illinois (currently costs me $600). I am reconciled to the fact that my cost will increase, but am eager for any advice anyone can offer to minimize the increase. Thanks in advance, Mike Ordun ihnp4!ihuxf!mro Bell Laboratories, Napreville IL.

Having been there a few times (business trips only!), my advice is to buy a tank, not a car.
