Many metropolitan areas now have a carrier that will identify the number from which you have been called. You could then not answer the phone if you didn't know the number or have a device that would automatically refer certain numbers to an answering machine or even have a busy signal for specified callers! Did Radio-Electronics recently have information on this carrier and a project for such a device. I'm interested in more details on this and how it works. Does someone have moreo information on this carrier? RE: Phone calling party number detection. I've talked to soooo many people that beleive this is easily done with a "BOX" that it makes me wonder if I should start selling the middle part of bridges in South East Asia. The ***ONLY*** way this works is when your LOCAL phone company OFFERS it. It's an add-on feature to your phone service. The equip used to gather that info isn't cheap. But if you ask me, I'd pay for it. I'd *** LOVE *** to pant and drool back after receiving the odious slimeball calls. EVen break the law and set my custom terminal package to re-dial the weenie's phone number 10 jillion times while I'm happily at work. But nooooooooo.....U.S. West is "Evaluating" this option being tested in some of the Mid-West states and isn't about to offer the option at least until the Early 90's. Perhaps I should DEMON-DIAL U.S. West's El presidente a few jillion times to get his attention. Nahh. He'd just sick the phone cops on me. -Mike -- ============================================================================= = Mike Carter N7GYX, Phoenix AZ| Q: Why did the Chicken cross the road ? = = hplabs!hp-sdd!crash!xroads!wiz| A: To ESCape the Main Menu . = =============================================================================
