[sci.electronics] 8276 CRT controller

john@frog.UUCP (John Woods) (09/26/89)

I have a terminal which requires an 8276 CRT controller chip. I have only
been able to locate suppliers of the 8275 CRT controller. So, I have two
questions:
1) Does anyone know if the 8276 is still made, and if so, who sells them?
(individually, that is; I don't need to buy 1000 from Intel :-)
2) Is the 8275 usable in place of the 8276? 8276 appears to implement a
superset of the 8276 functions, and appears to have similar timing, but I
haven't studies the data sheets carefully enough to be confident of that.
(There are, of course, things like the light pen inputs (to the 8275) that
can't be left floating (NC on 8276)).
