I'm looking for comments/details/sources/suggestions concerning small motors which could be used to step back and forth as well as run free in either direction. The application I have in mind (currently in early gestation, and in case anyone's interested) is 8/16/35 mm film editing, where the motors would obviously provide the main film transport mechanism. There'd also be sprockets, shutters, etc. as needed, but these could presumably be passive. An ideal solution (I think) would be a motor that could be driven with logic (or other) pulses: 1 pulse == 1 step, pulse train == run at speed proprtional to pulse frequency. Makes for nice, simple controller and display circuits. Please e-mail any and all comments. I'd love a _cheap_ source for something like this. And if anyone knows where to look for new or used film parts (like those mentioned above) let me know about that also.
