I am looking for something to extend access to my remote controlled audio/video equipment into another room. Is there a cheap & simple IR repeater available or has anyone built one at home that would be willing to send me the schematic for it. I am thinking about something like a IR detector connected via simple 2-wire cable to an IR source with everything powered by a couple of small batteries. I checked out the box that Radio Shack sells, but it is overkill for what I want. It includes cabling and connectors for the RF which I do not need. Any info will be appreciated, -- David A. Radio-Electronics May 1989 has a circuit that does what you want- but my experience is that the pickup stage is not very good. One needs to change the phototransistor to a photodiode design with an IR filter in front. A reasonably good IR filter can be made from an exposed piece of color negative film. An alternative is a darlington phototransistor. Oh, and Rat Shack has in some stores now something that looks like the front end IR receiver from a VCR; one could possibly use it (it's cheap!) but I haven't got one yet, so I'm not sure how good they'd be for this. --------------------------\ /------------------------------------------ INTERNET:tindle@ms.uky.edu | "I heard you." -Kirk BITNET:tindle@ukma.bitnet | "He simply could not believe his ears."
