The October 1989 issue of "SMART HOUSE Update" just arrived and here's
some of the headlines:
"New Licensees Join SMART HOUSE
Broadband Networks, Inc. (BNI) and Canada Wire and Cable Limited
are the newest companies to sign.... Other SMART HOUSE licensees
include AMP Inc., AT&T Network Systems, Carrier Corp., Ducane
Industries, Interior Piping Systems Inc...., Lennox industries
Inc., Onan Corporation, Pioneer Electronics Inc., Square D Co.,
and the Wiremold Co. ["... Robertshaw Controls Company ... has
committed to manufacture the quick-connect gas outlets,
whole-house shut off valve and gas branch controller...."].
"Prototype Progress
... recent ceremonies to mark the completion of the nation's
second prototype SMART HOUSE in Columbus, Ohio... a prototype
SMART HOUSE in Baltimore, Md., ... was completed in April.
Other prototypes sponsered by Arkansas-Louisiana Gas Company and
Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company are scheduled for completion
this fall. Also, ground is expected to be broken for a
prototype in the suburban Los Angeles area. That facility will
be sponsored by Southern California Edison Co."
