I have in-laws who live in Argentina, and want a camcorder to go with their VHS machine. Since my wife can get big discounts where she works, and since it's impossible to by anything in Argentina, they were asking me to get one for them here, and ship it to them. My problem is that I don't know if it'll work there. Does anyone know if the TV signals required in Argentina are compatable with those of the US? Is this even the right place to ask? I don't want to toss away $1000, or end up with a camcorder I don't really need. Any help will be gratefully accepted. Bob Bob Hablutzel BOB@NUACC.ACNS.NWU.EDU

Bob, To ensure the camcorder working properly, why dont you just send them a tape from a "Borrowed" camcorder here in the US. I dont think its going to work. The reason is we are NTSC standard which is 60HZ (30 frames/sec scan) with 525 lines. Argentina uses PAL which is 50HZ (25 frames/sec scan) with 625 lines. I might be wrong but your SAFEST bet is to send a tape. If they can watch it, sure, send em a camcorder! You COULD always get a PAL special order camcorder here and send it to em. Check with various Electron places that do exporting... Good Luck, Carl -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- R.
