[sci.electronics] 8049 keyboard controller needed

liz@ucscb.UCSC.EDU (Space Cadet) (11/18/89)

My keyboard just died. After extensive testing, I'm fairly sure that the
fault is with the 8049 microcontroller that does most of the work (there's only
one other chip on the board). I would like to hear from anyone who knows of a
source for this part. Note that just any 8049 won't work; this one is
programmed to act as (as you might expect) a keyboard controller.
The keyboard manufacturer isn't mentioned in the pamphlet it came with,
let alone on the keyboard itself. It may be ERSO-designed. The keyboard type
is "K-151L", and the full 8049 number is UM8049-8-523.
I don't have a microcontroller burner, so I'm not going to do one
myself. I *do* like the keyboard, though; it naturally is the only one that
has the right feel and layout to me and I'm afraid it may be difficult to find
an exact replacement.
Please send mail to the address below, not the one in the header. Thanks.
