I must know how this A/O modulator works electrically. It's not a very tricky layout, but there are a couple of ???s. Two IC:s TRW CA 2822-3 anzac MD-108 The TRW thing is odd looking. 7 pins. grouped like ... . ... On one side there's a LARGE iron (I guess) plate which is connected to ground. The anzac thing is in a metallic container. Looks a great deal like a relay. There's also an NPN transistor I don't know the pinning of. It's a 2N3866 And a diode called my2101. Any info is welcome. By the way, the IC's seems to be little used. Only pin 1 and 7 on the TRW IC is connected to some signal, where 7 is the output. The other 5 are connected to ground. The anzac IC is used a little more. pins 3,4,7,8 are used. The other 4 are connected to ground. Thanks. _ /Bjorn.

The MD-108 is a double-balanced mixer with an RF & LO frequency range of 5-500 MHz, and an IF frequency range of 0-500 MHz. The conversion loss ranges from 7.0 to 9.0 dB. > The anzac IC is used a little more. pins 3,4,7,8 are used. The other 4 are > connected to ground. You must have counted the pinx incorrectly; pins 1 and 5 are the LO port, so both could not be ground. > TRW CA 2822-3 > The TRW thing is odd looking. 7 pins. grouped like ... . ... > On one side there's a LARGE iron (I guess) plate which is connected to ground. The CA28nn series are linear hybrid RF amplifiers. I don't know exactly what the CA2822 is, but it is probably similar to the CA2820, which covers 1-520 MHZ at around 400 mW output. <> Larry Lippman @ Recognition Research Corp. - Uniquex Corp. - Viatran Corp. <> UUCP {allegra|boulder|decvax|rutgers|watmath}!sunybcs!kitty!larry <> TEL 716/688-1231 | 716/773-1700 {hplabs|utzoo|uunet}!/ \uniquex!larry <> FAX 716/741-9635 | 716/773-2488 "Have you hugged your cat today?"
